Plow Drivers & Subcontractors
Local Snow Removal is hiring plow drivers, sidewalk crews, and subcontractors with their own equipment across Cleveland and Akron. If you can handle winter work and show up when it counts, we want to talk.
Work the Winter With Us
Snow work is not for everybody, and that is exactly why good crews are worth so much. When a lake-effect band sets up over Cleveland at two in the morning, we need people who get up and go. If that is you, there is steady winter work here, fair pay, and a company that treats the people running the plows like they matter. We hire drivers, sidewalk crews, and independent subcontractors who bring their own trucks and equipment.
Who We Are Hiring
Plow Truck Drivers
- Run a plow route across residential and commercial sites.
- Overnight and early-morning availability during storms.
- Clean driving record and dependable transportation.
Sidewalk & Ice Crews
- Clear walks, entrances, and accessible routes by hand and with walk-behind gear.
- Apply ice control on pedestrian surfaces.
- Willing to work outdoors in cold, snowy conditions.
Subcontractors With Equipment
- Own a plow truck, skid steer, loader, or salt spreader.
- Carry your own insurance and run as an independent operator.
- Want steady route work all winter without chasing your own accounts.
Why Drivers Stay With Us
The best crews have options, so we work to be the place they pick. That means fair pay for hard nights, routes that are planned instead of chaotic, and dispatch that respects your time. We keep equipment maintained so you are not fighting a broken plow at three in the morning, and we back our people up when a storm gets ugly. Subcontractors get consistent volume through the season without the headache of finding and billing their own accounts.
Careers & Subcontractor Questions
Do I need a CDL to drive a plow truck?
For most of our plow trucks, no CDL is required, since they fall under standard pickup and light-duty weight classes. What we need is a clean driving record, reliable transportation, and the ability to run a route overnight during storms. Ask us about specifics for the equipment you would run.
Is this seasonal or year-round work?
Snow work is seasonal by nature, running through the Northeast Ohio winter. Many of our drivers and subcontractors like it precisely because it is intense winter work that fits around other seasonal jobs. Tell us what you are looking for and we will be straight about what we can offer.
Can I subcontract with my own truck?
Yes. We work with independent subcontractors who own a plow truck, skid steer, loader, or spreader. You run as an independent operator with your own insurance, and we keep you supplied with steady route work all winter so you are not chasing accounts.
What hours will I work?
Snow does not keep business hours, so the work is overnight and early morning when storms hit, with on-call availability during active events. Between storms there is little to no work. If you can be ready to roll when it snows, the schedule works in your favor.
Do I need my own insurance as a subcontractor?
Yes. Independent subcontractors carry their own insurance on their equipment and operation. If you are applying as an employee driver rather than a subcontractor, that is different, and we will explain how coverage works during the interview.
What experience do I need?
Experience helps, but attitude and reliability matter more. We hire people new to snow work for sidewalk and crew roles and train them, and we look for seasoned operators for solo plow routes. Put your experience level in the form and we will match you to the right role.
What equipment do you run?
Heavy-duty plow trucks, front-end loaders with box plows, skid steers, salt and de-icing trucks, and sidewalk gear. If you want to see the fleet, the Equipment pages on the site show what our crews work with every storm.
How and when do I get paid?
We pay fairly for the hard nights, and we go over the pay structure for your specific role during the interview so there are no surprises. Subcontractor terms and employee pay are handled differently, and we are upfront about both.
What areas do you need crews in?
Across the Cleveland and Akron metro, including the snow-belt communities east of both cities where the lake-effect volume is heaviest. Tell us what part of the region you can cover and we will point you toward routes near you.
How do I apply?
Fill out the application form on this page or call 1-866-426-5222. We review applications year-round and ramp up hiring in the fall before the season starts, so applying early puts you ahead of the rush.
